CODE OF CONDUCT
Player Disciplinary Procedure
This document sets out the code of conduct which Players are expected to maintain. It also sets out the procedure, which should be followed, where the code of conduct is breached. Breach of the code of conduct may lead to disciplinary action being taken against a player and repeated breaches or a single very serious breach may result in a student being suspended or expelled from the Academy.
Types of disciplinary action
Time Out: A Coach or trainer can ask a player to leave the field immediately for a ‘cooling off’ period if their behavior is deemed inappropriate, but not serious enough for suspension. A conversation with the Parent or guardian must be had to explain the need for Time Out. Should the same issue happen again within the same session or the next session a meeting with the child’s Parents, coach and Technical Director will be called and recorded and deemed as the first official written warning.
Written Warning:
A written warning emailed to parents and copied to relevant staff will be issued, stating the offense(s) and a response of acknowledgement will be required from the Parents. A meeting could be called to further discuss the child’s unacceptable behavior and a way forward.
Suspension/Expulsion:
A player may be suspended from the Academy immediately by the Technical Director pending a Final Stage Disciplinary meeting where that member of staff has reason to believe that the student has committed an act of gross misconduct. The Parents of the child should be notified immediately. Any such suspension will be confirmed in writing within two working days of its occurrence and the student and his/her parents will be invited to a Final Stage Meeting with the Director and the Coach. Details of the suspension will be recorded. An expulsion might be the result of a Final Stage meeting if the Academy believes that the child is causing harm to him/her self or others with their behavior or if previous disciplinary measures prove to be ineffective
Players:
2.1. Your actions reflect on your teammates and the rest of the Academy. You will behave respectfully and appropriately at all times.
2.2. Treat your coach, teammates, officials, and opponents with respect.
2.3. Do not argue with or criticize the referee or assistant referees. Remember that the only player supposed to talk to the referee is the captain and only then for clarifications.
2.4. Do not engage in inappropriate behavior during practices, games, team or club sponsored events and/or tournaments.
2.5. Control your emotions. Attempt to win through your skill, effort and tactics.
2.6. Always be punctual for practices and games.
2.7. Always be fair, no matter what the cost. Take victory modestly and defeat graciously.
2.8. Learn and follow the Rules of the Game.
2.9. Do not use foul or inappropriate language at any time.
2.10. If a player exhibits disruptive behavior during practices or games, and such behavior is deemed detrimental to the team, that player may be benched for that session or game or suspended from the Academy should the behavior continue.
2.11. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated at FC45 Academy. You are also responsible for reporting any kind of bullying that you witness even if you are not directly involved.
2.12. Shake hands (elbow) with the other team and the officials after every game.
2.13. It is your responsibility to make sure the field is clean and tidy and that all equipment is used properly and packed up after sessions, matches & tournaments.
Parents and Spectators:
3.1. Be a role model to your child and set a good example by your conduct and sportsmanship. The game is for your child, not for you. Encourage and support your child in meeting his/her responsibilities and to always play by the rules.
3.2. Do not engage in inappropriate behavior during practices, games, team or club sponsored events and/or tournaments. Do not direct the play of the game, yell instructions to any player, or attempt to coach from the sideline, unless as directed by the coach. Save vocal encouragement until after a good play. “Run”, “shoot”, “pass”, are not good examples of vocal encouragement.
3.3. Do not argue with or criticize the referee or assistant referees.
3.4. Any abuse or improper conduct by a parent toward a player, coach, referee will be cause for that person and respective child to be expelled without warning from the Academy, and without a refund.
3.5. Learn the Rules of the Game.
3.6. Appreciate your child’s coaches and volunteers.
3.7. Code of conduct must be adhered to or your child will not play.
3.8. Parents must stand in the designated areas of the field during games and sessions. Parents must stay off the field during practices or games unless authorized by the Referee during a game or the coach during practice.
