Our U15/U17 mixed have been invited to play Gaborone United Ladies in friendly fixture as they prepare for the Zak Construction Cup coming up on Saturday 9 September 2023.
The friendly fixture will be a boost for our boys and girls morale as they get to mix and mingle with the Gaborone United senior players and staff. “I believe this is a good opportunity for our players and the Academy, we are excited and honoured to be invited to play against the ladies and we hope our team will give Gaborone United Ladies a good game as they prepare for the tournament” said the Academy Director, Blessing Mugumwa.
The match will take place at the new Gaborone United Training Facilities at BIAC, behind the University of Botswana. Kick-off is expected to be at 4pm on Wednesday 06 September, 2023. The FC45 Academy squad will be mixed with players from the U15 and U17 teams who have been identified by the GU Head Coach at a youth match between FC45 Academy and Gaborone United played in August at Maruapula School in Gaborone.
The squad will also include the girls in the academy such Naledi Merafhe, Getrude Seambala and Bridget Lebalelo for exposure sake.
“I believe we need to include the girls so that they can learn and see what it takes to play at a higher level for inspiration. We have an equal opportunity policy at FC45 Academy and our girls are enjoying playing alongside the boys and always looking for competition” reiterated the Football Operations Manager, Gaone Phusumane.
The players will also be hoping to play more matches before early January as some players will be heading off to SA for the BSI trials, and hoping to make it for the Wolves Academy, Portugal Tour in 2024 with BSI Academy.
